Yuri Morozov is one of the most interesting artists from the Soviet Union. Since the 1970s he created more than 40 albums, many of which included forbidden esoteric and spiritual themes which led to his music being banned at the time. But the amazing depth and avantgarde approach of his music make it too valuable to be overlooked.
Neizyasnimoe is among his best works. This album included early electronic sounds and was particularly experimental and abstract, especially for that time. Many songs on there are incredibly immersive and put you into a difference time and space – “Dance With Herons” and “Machine Dancing” are great examples. This album shows the strong value that a global focus on vintage music can have – the newsletter will explore more of such Soviet gems.
