Plays Super Fly is a widely unknown, but highly sophisticated record on which you can find great jazz-funk interpretations of Soul classics. This album was inspired by the iconic Super Fly soundtrack of Curtis Mayfield, but offers a completely new and fresh perspective on it. This might be one of the greatest records from the Blaxpoitation era.
One of the standout songs is Mystical Man, which, as the title already suggest, provides one of these magical moments in 1970s underground music where slow rhythm blends with experimental sound. If you are looking for excellent atmospheric keyboard play from the 1970s, you have to listen to this song. More of these are explored in the newsletter.
